Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Job Summary:

The Outpatient Director of Growth & Operations is responsible for the overall strategic planning, operational oversight, and successful delivery of all outpatient telehealth behavioral health programs and services. This leader drives session volume growth through strong payor partnerships, referral development, and network expansion, while ensuring operational efficiency and financial performance. They will manage and develop a high-performing team, optimize systems and processes, and foster strong community and provider relationships to expand access to care across multiple states.

 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

 

Outpatient Growth

  • Design and execute referral growth strategies to expand session volume across multi-state markets.
  • Cultivate referral relationships with hospitals, primary care providers, specialists, community organizations, and other behavioral health stakeholders.
  • Build and expand provider networks by identifying and engaging new referral partners to strengthen patient access pipelines.
  • Oversee marketing and outreach initiatives that position the practice as a preferred telehealth behavioral health partner.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational leadership to ensure growth strategies align with quality care, compliance, and patient outcomes.
  • Develop and manage strategic payor relationships to secure favorable contracts, reimbursement rates, and expanded coverage for behavioral health telehealth services.

Operations Oversight:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of all outpatient behavioral health clinics/programs, ensuring efficient workflows, optimal staffing levels, and effective utilization of resources.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and protocols that ensure compliance with all internal policies and external regulations (e.g. CMS, state laws, HIPAA).
  • Evaluate workflow, data, and performance metrics to inform decisions, maximize productivity, and ensure quality service delivery.
  • Analyze data and act on significant trends affecting the overall effectiveness of the department.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery, patient experience, and operational efficiency.
  • Drive the achievement of key performance targets, including volume growth, financial performance, patient satisfaction, and clinical quality outcomes

Financial Management:

  • Manage visit volume for outpatient behavioral health services to meet, or exceed,
  • Identify ways to grow outpatient services and/or increase profitability by recommending and implementing cost-effective strategies.
  • Develop and execute a payer engagement strategy focused on expanding market access and driving profitable business growth.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Hire, onboard, and retain a high-performing team
  • Provide ongoing mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback to staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous professional
  • Conduct effective performance evaluation sessions and establish targeted goals and growth plans for staff.
  • Promote a positive work environment that emphasizes teamwork, open communication, and employee well-being.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

 

Education:

  • Bachelors degree

Experience:

  • Multi-state experience required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, with a significant focus on outpatient behavioral health.
  • Proven track record of successful program growth, development, operational management, and financial oversight.
  • Experience managing and leading teams

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of current behavioral health trends, best practices, and evidence-based
  • Excellent leadership, management, and organizational
  • Proven ability to think strategically, develop innovative solutions, and execute business plans.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting and resource management in healthcare.
  • Data analysis and problem-solving skills to inform decision-making and policy development.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and promoting a positive patient experience.

 

Compensation:

  • Competitive base salary with performance-based incentives
    • $150,000 - $170,000 base salary 
  • Commission structure tied directly to outpatient practice growth
    • 10% bonus potential quarterly based upon meeting and exceeding growth targets
